We are seeking a motivated, qualified nurse with excellent leadership skills to direct the daily Infection control and prevention operations of the facility.
- Report all reportable diseases to the country and state health departments
- Participate in facility surveys (inspections) made by authorized government agencies
- Develop, maintain, periodically update infection control precautions/aseptic technique to correct problem areas. Interpret infection control policies and procedures as necessary
- Maintain reference library of infection control material to assist facility in meeting day-to-day needs of isolated residents
- Prepare monthly summaries of all resident/personnel infections, corrective action taken, and the results of the corrective action and submit copies to the Administrator and Director of Nursing Services
- Make written and oral reports/recommendations to the Administrator, as necessary/required, concerning the infection control program of this facility
- Assist all departments in evaluating and classifying routine and job-related functions to ensure that tasks involving exposure to blood/body fluids are properly identified
- Make rounds to nursing units for case findings, review environmental sanitation procedures, and monitor infection control practices/procedures. Ensure that all personnel are implementing standard operating procedures for tasks involving isolation precautions/practices and exposure to blood/body fluids
- Visit isolated residents as necessary to ensure established isolation precautions/aseptic technique are followed
- Review and analyze infectious disease laboratory reports, provide DNS with reports of pertinent findings/recommendations. Consult with the Director of Nursing Services to develop care plan for assuring aseptic techniques are implemented
- Maintain a written record of all residents and employees who have nosocomial infections and prepare summaries of special investigations on the occurrence of nosocomial and community acquired infections
- Asses and/or evaluate new or improved resident care products or procedures.
- Participate in surveys of possible carriers among residents and personnel and in tracing possible sources of infection within the facility
- Assist in the development and implementation of a facility-wise TB management control program
